Hot Sauce Labels

Rock A Doodle Do – Belfast Hot Sauce commissioned label designs for their new special edition sauces – Pooka and Banshee. Drawn in by the mystical feel of the “Grimm’s Fairy Tales” book cover design on my portfolio they requested for the designs to be in that style. A Banshee is the “female spirit in Irish mythology who heralds the death of a family member, usually by wailing, shrieking, or keening” and a Pooka is a creature of Celtic folklore “considered to be bringers both of good and bad fortune” so the dark, spooky style worked very well for these concepts.

The next project was for a show banner which could be printed at a very large scale to be used at market & show stalls. It needed to be simple, consistent with the brand style they had already established (below) and embody the general idea of their product. So a repeat-pattern of vector ingredients was created, with some of the chilli peppers being highlighted with green and red, with the focal point being their logo at the centre.

Rock A Doodle Do also needed a design for their new Trinidad BBQ sauce. It had to be consistent with their other standard Hot Sauce labels (above), but in colour instead of black and white, with a warm, rustic feel:

And finally, for their miniature bottles gift set which is packaged in a treasure chest (above), a traditional pirate feel was requested, including an old map look with torn edges and burns:
